I was so delighted that Sarah
Millican won last years if.comedy newcomers award as he show was
excellent, certainly one of my favourites, so was keen to see if this
year’s one Typical Woman was up to the high standard set 12 months
ago.
It was. In fact it was better!!
Much better!!
I was a little surprised at the
very predominantly female audience at the show I saw, as I thought given
her recent television exposure she would have had a wider male
following, but hey ho they are the ones who missed out.
Ms Milligan’s concept is that
Typical Woman, or Typical Man are becoming things of the past due to the
stereotypes being broken down more as time goes on. She then launches
into a whole raft of hilarious, well written material to prove, or
otherwise occasionally, her point.
She really had all with her
throughout as she entertained non-stop. She interacts well with those
chosen few she chats with and is certainly non-threatening in her
approach.
I will not attempt to précis any
of her stories for two reasons,
1, Sarah is far better at he job
than I am, and
2, I wouldn’t want you to miss
hearing them first hand if and that is a big if, you can beg, borrow or
steal a ticket.
Having won the best newcomer award
last year, who would bet against her lifting the main award this year?
Certainly not me cause at the time of writing her show is the best I hav
seen at Fringe 2009.
