Chatting
to Reginald D Hunter just prior to Christmas last year I asked him if he
was planning to do Edinburgh this year and he expressed doubts as he
didn’t know if he had anything to talk about this year, and I said
we’d see him there ‘cause Reggie always has something to say. I was
so glad to be proved right and he is here, albeit for a shorter run than
normal so I staked by case for the review ticket and boy am I glad. You
bet your life I am.
I
have seen the man a number of times and know he is at his best when
playing live, the Hunter that appears on TV is a pale imitation of the
live one, as he points out to the audience at the onset of his hour.
Reggie
is no longer in a relationship, and he has a few things to say on the
subject, not really typical comedians slagging his ex so watch out
ladies he is on the market again.
Having
lived in the UK for nearly 12 years, whilst on his return to his native
Georgia in the deep south he is accused as sounding English. Hunter may
have accepted British way of life , but to most of us his accent is as
strong as ever. I find I really have to listen to every word he says
carefully to make sure I get everything he says, and it is well worth
the effort, as his show has soooo much good stuff in it.
I
have always enjoyed Hunter as a comedian, and I am sure this is the best
thing he has ever done. He is a consummate professional, a really funny
man and you should get a ticket today……. If you can.
