Phil Nichol:
A Deadpan Poet Sings Quiet Songs Quietly…
*****
Geoff may have discovered Phil Nichol before me but this Fringe I have seen all three of his shows. In his Sstand-up at the Stand II we meet yet another new character. Phil is now a smooth looking performance poet who both recites and sings his poems. Backed by his two ghosts Casper and Banquo, this poet entertains us with his totally unique style.
When Phil first walked in to the room my first thoughts were, wow you are gorgeous! Bedecked in sparklingly clean white suit with a shimmering blue shirt and pale blue tie, this clean-shaven sex god had his magnetism powers on full.
His show had us in fits of hysteria and just as you got over one laugh another hits you full force. There is very little quiet about this poet. Phil’s poetry pulls punches, punctuated by puns and hysteria.
