Brian Gittins:  Roadside Cafe Owner

****

Brian Gittins assumes the character of the café owner who dreams of becoming a comedy superstar. All he wants to do is make people laugh with a few jokes, comedy songs and games.
Unfortunately, he lacks more than a few qualities in his quest for fame and recognition – quick wits when interacting with the audience and good material just for starters. He can’t even use his wife Cheryl as the butt of any gags because they are so much in love. He definitely is not slick or polished in any way. Not much chance of success then, but his performance turns out to be very funny.
There is a fine line between success and failure by basing an act on being inept but he carries it off, judging from the laughter all through the show. His pace is measured with really well timed pauses.
An unusual, entertaining and well crafted show.
