Hollywould… But Doesn’t Think She’ll Bother

As part of the Free Fringe this year Holly Burn stages her show in the large Ballroom at The Counting House pub.
In a show that claims to be a story of Russian merchant called Luigi(!!) we in fact learn very little of the man, instead Ms Burn parades a number of characters before our eyes, herself, a woman whose lost her dog, the ‘lost dog’ and his ‘wife’ being the most prominent.
She tries hard with her characters and some of the material is amusing if rather surreal but for me and others I spoke to after the performance, but there was rather a lot of pretty poor stuff also.
I am not aware of the direction this lady is aiming in as the show tried to embrace too many things, and failed to deliver on most. It appeared thrown together much of the time and if directed, I feel it should have been far, far tighter.
The ending was certainly different. I have been a Fringe attendee for nearly twenty years now and yet this is the first time I have experienced a show ending like this. Thank God I went on a relatively dry day!
Should I recommend that you attend this show?  Sorry Holly, but I don’t think I’ll bother.
