Andy
Zalltzman always has and probably always will major on poletics in his
annual sojourn to Edinburgh and sure enough this dead pan, well most
of the time, comedian has done it again.
This
years show is in two halves with an interval, the first half more
the Zaltzman we know, the second half, his own award ceremony.
Zaltzman
has built up a loyal following and even in his mid-afternoon slot is
playing to full rooms and eliciting laughs from some occasionally
unlikely topics, even having surreal solutions to the
important stuff in life, football!!
Of
course the obvious targets such as Mugabe, George W, the credit
crunch and politics in the UK are well investigated as the first
half draws to an end.
Following
an interval quiz(!) yeah really, he reappears booted and suited to
deliver his awards. This of course gives him scope to have a further
go at the Zimbabwe leader, the British government, the USA, the EU
and himself.
If
there was one criticism I could make, he appeared to still be using
a cue card at time and during his award ceremony reading most
things. By now I would have thought he would have his show down.
