If you were a fan of the X-Files then
you’ll no doubt remember Dean Haglund.
He was a member of loveable trio of kooks ‘The Lone
Gunmen’. More
specifically he was the one who looked like Garth from Wayne’s
World.
Haglund is no doubt using the popularity of
the X-Files to draw the crowds to his improve show but it’s a fine
concept at the same time. The
idea behind the show is that he, along with suggestions from the
audience, will create a brand new episode of the X-Files right
before your very eyes. Since
he is relying heavily upon the aid of the audience he has every
right to declare, “If I suck, it’s your fault”.
Thankfully he doesn’t suck and he uses
his outstanding comic skills to improvise his way through some kind
of storyline involving Tiger-Badgers.
Each section of the developing plotline uses ‘Whose Line Is
It Anyway’ style improve favourites – such as audience members
providing soundtracks, literally lending a hand and providing random
sentences that Haglund will use to develop the plot.
It’s all good fun and Haglund is in a
comfortable role as the comedy Master of Ceremonies.
If you’ve ever fancied being part of a Fringe show,
here’s your chance. If
not, then just go along assured of a good time.
