What
is the attraction of all these 'Best of' shows that seem to increase
every Fringe? Well I suppose it is a win-win situation. Usually they
are in relatively off peak times so the space gets used, it gives a
chance for the performers to showcase their full shows and it gives the
public a chance to see a sample of these shows that they may be
tempted to see. Easy then, but should that be win-win-win?
Certainly
with this one that is
the case. Four acts and a compere in the space of an hour! Can't be
bad.
The
line up I saw was compered by Raymond Mearns performing at The
Stand Comedy Club, Duncan Oakley on at C Soco Urban Garden, Robin
Ince and His Book Club at Assembly, Yianni at The White Horse and
finally the excellent Micky Flannigan who is performing at The
Pleasance.
Each
act did their job well, the packed house enjoyed each artist and it
is certainly good value for money. The lineup will change daily so
it would be possible to go more than once and see a different how
each time.
